all about kombucha

what is kombucha?

Kombucha is fermented tea that gets its flavor and healthy properties from a microbial culture that produces organic acids, B vitamins, and enzymes. Kombucha comes from Asia, where it has been drunk for thousands of years. Like tea, the drink was probably discovered in China, where it was hailed as detoxifying and invigorating. Kombucha has long been used as a health elixir. Already the Chinese emperor Qin Shi Huangdi (259-210 BC) used kombucha to achieve immortality. (He died anyway.)

Why do you drink kombucha?

First of all, kombucha tastes great! Thanks to its acidity, Kombucha is an expert in extracting both flavor and benefits from different plant parts. Another reason to drink kombucha is that it is healthy. Kombucha contains very little sugar, compared to soda or fruit juice. It is therefore not only suitable as an alternative to cider, beer and wine, but also to soft drinks or other sugary drinks. Last but not least, kombucha —   if it is made correctly — contains live bacteria and yeast, as well as beneficial substances such as B vitamins, organic acids, and enzymes.

why Roots Kombucha?

Roots of Malmö brews eco-certified kombucha free of preservatives, concentrates and artificial flavorings. We developed a three-step fermentation process that gives our kombucha good taste and high quality. All our flavorings are genuine ingredients, e.g. fresh ginger, real honey, or whole apples. Roots Kombucha is unpasteurized and unfiltered, which means that all the good bacteria from the fermentation remain. Therefore, kombucha should be refrigerated. (Note: Only chilled kombucha is real kombucha.)
